I’m constantly amazed by how stupid I was two weeks ago.
And this Tip… well, I wish I’d known this when I started in business. It would have saved me years of effort!
It’s as simple as this
We all know lots of people.
But which ones will help you most?
It’s those with LOVE and POWER:
- LOVE – they want to help you. You have a great relationship with them. You like each other, trust each other…
- POWER – they can help you. They can give you good advice, connect you with useful people, buy from you…
So, here’s a simple exercise:
- List 10-20 of your contacts
- LOVE grade – for each of them, grade them A or B or C for how much they LOVE you
- POWER grade – grade them A or B or C for how much POWER they have to help you
- Find your A/As…
- … and contact them. See how you can help each other
I love this technique:
- Because we’re A/As, there’s LOVE and POWER! So we both can – and want to – help each other
- We should be contacting our A/As more, anyway. It’s all-too-easy to leap from Emergency X to Challenge Y, and forget to invest time with the people who matter most
- Sometimes, we realise someone who was an ‘A’ has become a B or C because we’ve ignored them for too long. So it prompts us to sort that out
All of which means that this week’s suggested action is obvious – and critical…

- Find your A/As`
- Contact them
- Bust guts to help them
- They’ll try and help you too
- Both of you benefit…
… (or, instead, you could try cold calling strangers… NO! Do NOT do that!)
