Friday thought: here’s my favourite quote about meetings. Do you agree?

15th August 2014

Here’s another:

"Meetings are indispensable when you don’t want to do anything." – J. K. Galbraith

The more meetings you attend, the more you realise how pointless most are. They are like all bad communications: they lack purpose, are full of waffle and end with no call to action.

And the larger the organisation, the more they have.

What a waste.

I once heard the story of a billionaire who joins any meeting he sees lasting too long. When he does, people always say "We’re just finishing". To which he always replies "Well finish, then."

Which is almost as useful as this advice. Have a look and you’ll see what I mean.

The last person I shared it with saved two hours a week. Every week.
